How To Wash Velour Clothes

Washing Velour Clothes

Velour is one of the best and most luxurious fabrics that are in main stream fashion. Before it was considered as being a bad or poor fabric and it didn't look too good either. Today the manufacturers use 100% cotton or a mixture of cotton and synthetic materials to produce an easy to maintain and really good looking material that also feels good on your skin. It looks like velvet but it is a lot easier to turn in to clothes, and it is also a lot cheaper! This is the biggest reason for manufacturers to use it in sweatsuits - you don't want too expensive material to be used for clothes that you might use during sports since they just might end up breaking, but as you want to get that luxurious appeareance, you want to use something that is a little bit different from the traditional nylon used.

When you are washing your velour sweatsuit, I suggest that you only wash clothes that are made of the same fabric at the same time. Velour has fibers that can be caught in other clothes that are made of harder material - like jeans - and you don't want this to happen and break up your sweatsuits. If you have more than one of these tracksuits.

I suggest you wash them all at the same time and turn them all inside out to make sure there won't be any marks on the outside of the clothes. This is actually something that I advice on anyone washing anything in their machine.

Also you need to close all the zippers to avoid the hard parts of the zippers to tear the fabric of any other clothes, and you want to open the buttons. The button holes might end up stretching in the washer if you don't do this.

In come cases velour clothes like robes contain a belt - you can't leave this on but you need to take it away and place it in a separate washing bag made of mesh. That way it won't end up wrapped up around the other clothes and prevent them from being washed properly.

I'd recommned you to use quite cool water beacause velour can get tighter quite easily - if you don't want your clothes to be two sizes smaller after the wash, use as cool water as possible.

Put a gentle wash on with cool water and wait until it is done - immediately open the clothes and shake some of water off and put them in the dryer to be dried immediately. If you don't want the clothes to shrink again, you need to use only cool air for this. After the drying program si done, you can iron your velour clothes and put them in the closet.
